Hi Everyone!

Wow 11 months tomorrow!  It’s just so crazy!!!  It’s just a really good time to be a missionary!  We went to Stake Conference yesterday and everything was just about helping the missionaries out and just how to be better member missionaries!  It’s pretty cool!  And then with just all the things that are going on with missionary work it’s just awesome!  We had some cool experiences outside of doing missionary work of just walking on the streets this week.

First of all these two Americans who were in Hong Kong for business decided to come check out the church and we met them and started talking to them for a little bit. That’s pretty cool but I mean it’s whatever…you see Americans all the time and its just expected that they are members because they walked into the church by themselves.

Then we were coming home from P-Day on the train last week and this family like walked up to us and said that they were members from the Philippines! He is actually a worker for the church somehow and had some meetings in Hong Kong so he took his family with him! So like we were talking to them and the kids for some reason were so happy to see us and they wanted to take so many pictures with us.  It was just a fun time on the train!  They just got back from going to Disneyland so I mean let’s be real how could they not be happy coming back!  But I don’t know!  I just haven’t seen kids that happy for months!  And while we were talking to them, this one girl from the Philippines came up to us and started asking questions about our church, probably because it was just a happy situation!  So we got her info and stuff and passed her along to the Elders that serve the Philippine people here!  It was so good and the family like got even more excited… I think because they were there when we contacted her!  He gave us like a huge high five and stuff so it was pretty cool.  Just normal stuff for us but whatever floats their boat!  Two countries…

Next we were leaving the church one day last week and we got to talk to this white man who looked pretty lost/exhausted.  Turns out he is a member from Bangkok and he brought the whole youth group in his ward to go to the temple!  He said they had to go the airport the next day but he didn’t know how…or where… to catch the bus that got them there, so he was walking around looking for help!  And what do you know… we knew where it was!  While we were showing him he told us about the sacrifices the group had made to get them to Hong Kong and what a miracle it was!  They had been to Disneyland that day too and all the youth didn’t want to go because they loved the temple so much they wanted to stay and do more there!  Pretty awesome stuff! And it truly was a miracle to get them there! So that’s 3 countries….

Finally right after we met that guy, we were going home on the MTR this guy comes up to us and says that he’s a member from Japan and he served a mission in LA.  He was here for a business trip for the night but didn’t know where to go and see the sites!  We just pointed him in the right direction and gave him suggestions etc.  We talked about missionary work and stuff like that.  It was just so cool!  Awesome experiences!  Lots of people from lots of different places!

We also had some good stuff this week in our area!  We’ve really been focusing on finding and contacting on the streets…because this area has had it rough for a while now…and we saw some great success!  Oh and Cheuk Hau Ling in Tai Po is going to get baptized this week!  I was able to give my camera to Elder Goodrich so I’ll have pictures next week. Patrick…we’re not sure yet cause he’s facing a lot of family problems so we see how that turns out!  But Cheuk hau Ling is all set to go!  It’s going to be a good day Sunday!

We are working really hard. Elder Kwan is a new missionary and so hasn’t really adapted to missionary work yet or something like that!  But he is so good!  He just uses all his energy on the streets and so he just falls asleep whenever there is a break…even on the MTR.  But this morning was the best one.  We were wondering where he was…and it’s not that the apartment is big or anything…so we opened the bathroom door and there he was sleeping on the toilet!  HA-HA!  We laughed so hard!  He was just dead asleep! About to get into the shower and he just fell asleep!  I’m pretty impressed!  I didn’t think it was possible but you learn something new everyday!  We are just working hard and just keeping ourselves worthy of the Lord’s blessings and miracles. I feel bad whenever I do something that could be done better!  But the Lord’s work will always continue to move on and we getting ready to blow up the area soon! (Hopefully just a missionary figure of speech!)

We met a new person this week named Michael.  It was actually the day after we met Emily’s mom in the hospital and he was so humble just like Emily’s mom. (Oh and by the way Emily’s mom is doing better.  We didn’t get a chance to see her last week but probably this week for sure. )  We gave him a church tour and originally planned to share a lesson about the Restoration.  But all he wanted to really talk about was baptism!  So that’s what we talked about! And for the second straight day, I saw a Chinese person cry!  What a powerful experience coming from a man who makes a living being a truck driver and trying to get his life back in order after being in prison for like 10 years.  It’s definitely just the beginning but how cool it was to sit in that room and be with someone that you knew just wanted to be there!

This week was a good one, I always think it could’ve been better but we still made progress with investigators.  We had things lined up for the weekend and some happened and some didn’t. We saw some success with Carolyn coming to church and even bringing a friend.  We weren’t able to teach him or her afterwards, but I talked to both of them on the phone and they seemed to both really enjoy it. They are both meeting us tomorrow and coming to Family Home Evening so that is a plus. The only problem is that Carolyn likes to show up late to lessons.  Almost all the time if it’s at the church or somewhere besides a home she’s really, really late.  So when we schedule members to help us she always makes them wait.  As a result, so she doesn’t have the greatest relationship with the Relief Society. It’s hard for them to get along in the first place because Carolyn is 28 and we don’t have too many people of that age in our ward.  It’s just really bad when she does this to the people who want to help her.  It’s okay though she is still moving towards the 19th as a baptismal date.  Getting her to come to church on Sunday will be difficult since her Mom won’t let her leave the house because she knows that she will be going to church. Despite all that she really is enjoying the gospel and she has told me on many occasions the vast differences she has seen since she has met us.  Carolyn is good; the only problem is getting her to show up to lessons!!!!  She is like on the putting green…. we just have to get her in!!  Sorry…weird analogy I just thought of.  (If you know me very well you know that golf analogies are not my favorite anyway.  Maybe he has been away too long….)

A-Keung is another good investigator.  He is the son of another investigator.  We went to his house and his mom fully supports him being baptized on the 19th.  She wants it for him.  It just never goes well with him though, coming to church I mean.  Yesterday we knocked on his door for a long time and just nobody answered (by the way I’m so glad we don’t knock doors…it freaks me out!)  His mom was at work so we couldn’t call her either.  It’s a hard situation to describe over email but the door we knocked on isn’t his real door.  It’s more of like a passageway to the real door.  So maybe he couldn’t hear it and just forgot to wake up.  It will take a miracle for him to come to church but I believe it can happen.  He has already heard and been keeping most of the commandments and has a good relationship with the Young Men.  He just has to go to bed earlier.  He reads the scriptures everyday, tells us what he learns from them and prays everyday.   He just won’t come to church.

Well that’s basically it!  I love you all thanks for the support and encouragement!  It’s pretty crazy to hear how messed up the world is you know with the bombings and all!  Over here it’s all good right now.  I’m just thinking what a great 11 months it has been!
